About Us

Carter and Sons Service Center was founded in 1991 by Donnie Carter. Donnie opened Plaza Citgo Service, a full service gas station in the plaza shopping center. In 1992, Donnie purchased his first tow truck and opened "Donnie's Plaza Wrecker." Within the next year he was towing for the Mountain Home Police Department, Baxter County S.O., and the Arkansas State Police. He also purchased "Claud's Towing" that year and had 3 trucks by this time. In late 1995, he also purchased "Wayne's Muffler World Towing." In 1996, he opened "Dodd Creek Repair and Wrecker" and his oldest son Jason ran it on the west side of Mountain Home. Then in late 1997, he again purchased "Twin Lakes Towing" and ran that company also. In 2000, his youngest son came on board and ran "Twin Lakes Towing" on the North side of Mountain Home, but Donnie had other ideas for his now 3 towing locations and 2 repair operations. In late 2000, he purchased commercial property on Hwy. 62 East and began building a 4 bay, 2 deep repair facility with just over 1 acre of storage capacity and opened it in 2001, dropping the Dodd Creek name and becoming what is now, "Carter and Sons Service Center."

Donnie is a veteran born and raised in Arkansas. Donnie still lives in the area with his wife and says he's semi-retired. Both of Donnie's sons are still here as well. Jason is the shop manager and operator, and Daniel is the towing operations manager and operator. In Feb. 2009, Jason received his WreckMaster level 2/3 towing and recovery specialist certification. In October of 2009, Jason received his WreckMaster level 4/5, making him the area's only 4/5 certified operator. In July of 2010, Jason attended a 2 day class by Tom Luciano, an advanced training specialist from Miller Industries. He received the Advanced Heavy Duty Recovery certificate, making him one of this area's most certified operators. In 2013, Jason's son Kegan came on board as an operator, making for 3 generations in the business.
